Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
The quick version
- We only save what TaskNest needs to work: your login, your homework and your settings.
- We never sell your data, show ads, or track you around the internet.
- Only you can see your boards. We don't read them.
- You can ask us to show you, download, or delete your data at any time.
- You must be at least 13 to use TaskNest (16 if you live in the EU).
Who runs TaskNest
TaskNest is a free homework tracker made by a student and run by the TaskNest team. We are responsible for your information (in privacy-law words, we're the "data controller").
Questions about your privacy? Email us at tasknesthelpdesk@gmail.com.
What we save, and why
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your email address | So you can log in, and so we can help you if you ask (for example, resetting your password). |
| Your name and profile picture (only if you sign in with Google) | To greet you and show your picture in the corner. Google shares these when you choose "Continue with Google". |
| Your boards and homework: tasks, classes, events, sticky notes, tables, checklists | That's TaskNest itself. They're saved to your account so they show up on all your devices. |
| Pictures you add to a board | So they appear on your board. Anyone who has a picture's exact web link could open it, so please don't upload anything private, like photos of yourself or documents with personal details. |
| Your settings: theme, study hours, Midnight's settings | So TaskNest looks and works the way you set it up. |
| Feature suggestions you send | So we can make TaskNest better. Suggestions are anonymous unless you tick the box to include your email so we can reply. |
We don't ask for your real name, birthday, address, phone number or school, and you don't need to give us any of those. We don't use your information to train AI, build advertising profiles, or for anything other than running TaskNest.
Who else handles your information
TaskNest is built on a few trusted services. They only handle your information to keep TaskNest running:
- Google Firebase stores your account and boards, and handles logging in. Firebase privacy information
- Vercel hosts the TaskNest website. Like every website host, it briefly sees your internet (IP) address when you visit. Vercel's privacy policy
- Google Fonts provides some of the lettering on the page, which means Google sees your IP address when the page loads. Google Fonts privacy information
We never sell or give your information to anyone else. We would only share it if the law required us to.
Where your information is stored
Your account is stored on Google's servers, mainly in the United States. If you live in the EU or UK, this means your information leaves your country. Google and Vercel protect it using the legal safeguards the EU approves for this, like the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the EU's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account and boards for as long as you have an account.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and everything in it within 30 days.
- Tasks and boards you delete yourself are removed straight away. When you remove a picture, TaskNest deletes the picture file too. If you want to be sure a picture is gone, email us and we'll check and remove it within 30 days.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- See what information we have about you
- Download a copy of it
- Fix anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and everything in it
- Stop using your information for something you don't agree with
To do any of these, email tasknesthelpdesk@gmail.com from the email address you use for TaskNest. We'll reply within 30 days. If you live in the EU or UK and you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to your country's data protection authority.
The legal reasons we use your information
EU and UK law asks us to explain this. We use your information:
- to give you the service you signed up for: your account, boards and settings;
- for legitimate interests: keeping TaskNest secure and working, like the website logs our host keeps;
- with your permission: your email on a feature suggestion, only if you tick the box.
Age limit
TaskNest is for people aged 13 and older. If you live in the EU, you must be 16 or older. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we find out a child under 13 has made an account, we'll delete it. Parents who think this has happened can email tasknesthelpdesk@gmail.com.
Keeping your information safe
Your boards are locked to your account, so other TaskNest users can't see them. Connections to TaskNest are encrypted, and logging in is handled by Google Firebase. No website can promise to be 100% secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Cookies
TaskNest saves a few small things on your device, like your light or dark mode choice. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our Cookies page lists everything we save there.
"Do Not Track": some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. TaskNest doesn't track you across other websites at all, so it treats every visitor the same whether or not that signal is turned on.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll also tell you inside TaskNest.
