Cookies

The quick version
- TaskNest saves a few small things on your device so it works and remembers your choices.
- We don't use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. Ever.
- That's why you don't see a "Accept cookies?" pop-up: there's nothing to say yes or no to.
What are cookies?
Cookies (and similar things called "local storage") are tiny notes a website saves in your browser. TaskNest uses them like a sticky note on your fridge: to remember things for next time, not to follow you around.
What TaskNest saves on your device
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Login information (saved by Google Firebase) | Keeps you signed in so you don't have to log in every time. |
| Light or dark mode | Remembers which theme you picked. |
| Your settings (study hours, page style) | So TaskNest looks the way you set it up, even before it finishes loading. |
| Midnight's settings | Remembers if Midnight is switched on and which window view you chose. |
| The board you last opened | So TaskNest opens right where you left off. |
| A copy of your boards and tasks | Helps TaskNest load quickly. The real copy is in your account. |
| A profile photo you chose (if you set one) | Shows your picture. It stays on this device only. |
Other companies
- If you choose "Continue with Google", Google uses its own cookies during sign-in. Those follow Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts provides some of our lettering. It doesn't set cookies, but Google does see your IP address when the page loads.
How to clear them
You can delete everything TaskNest saved on your device by clearing your browser's "cookies and site data". You'll be signed out, and TaskNest will forget your theme and settings on that device. Everything in your account stays safe and comes back when you sign in again.
